This past weekend at a holiday party, I experienced the sheer look of horror as I did the unimaginable: I put ice in my red wine. and then drank it. and loved it.
The guest at the party scoffed at my heinous act, decrying the whomever knows how long adage that you can't add ice to red wine! How dare I destroy this delicious red nectar with a cube of ice! Gahh!
While it's not terribly uncommon for people to chill white wine with a corksicle (https://amzn.to/3GXpVDD), it's almost a faux pas to do with red wine. You have to drink red wine at room temperature, no? No! I like my red wine chilled too. But ice? You'd think I was crazy based on the reaction of others. Of course chilling white wine and chilling red wine have different recommended temperatures, but you aren't watering them down with ice. I don't care - I like them both cold, with ice!
At the end of the day - how you drink what you drink is a personal preference. If you aren't a wine fan or don't like warm wine, try it chilled and/or with ice. You might end up liking it!
