I was talking today to a client moving in from another state, and I mentioned that to get to this house we would have to go past a road, and then do a "Michigan Left" to be able to go on the road we needed to go on and they looked at me like I was crazy. They had no idea what a Michigan Left was. This got me thinking: What IS the most Michigan thing?
I started to think about places I've gone and how I have described where we live. So, of course the "using your hand as a map" has to be way up there. I think most of us have shown where we live at one time or another.
In college, we used to play Euchre for hours, and it seems like everyone here knows how to play, but outside of the Midwest? Nope! Forget trying to teach someone new how to play either. Left and right what? They're both Jacks but one is more powerful?!!
Pop. I don't drink soda, or Coke for that matter. It's Pop. Another thing that people from out of state look weirdly at. Vernors too when you're sick, even though that's been a myth for years.
Up North. It can be literally anything more than what, an hour or two away? It's where everyone goes from Memorial Day to Labor Day for a weekend vacation.
