Do golf balls go bad in water?

I see friends of mine digging in ponds and/or getting poison ivy and ticks all over their limbs while looking for lost balls in the woods..  Do you do this?  Here's a guide for some truth to whether you should, or not!

Yes, no, maybe so?  If it looks good and not discolored, is it still good to play?

Just like your guarded exterior, the insides could be mushy or hardened!  

Sounds like us as we get old - core softens, distance drops.  I guess we aren't that different than golf balls!

Just because you can, doesn't mean you shouldn't!

Play with your own balls, not someone else's!
